RI National Guard Youth Summer Camp Registration is here!!

Rhode Island National Guard Leaders’ Summer Camp will be held August 19-23 at YMCA Camp Fuller in Wakefield RI.

This camp is open to military dependents, grades 3-12 as of Fall 2012 (no exceptions). Priority is given first to Army National Guard dependents!

TO REGISTER: you must come to your ASSIGNED Registration Night with all required paperwork completed and your registration fee. Registration for ARMY NATIONAL GUARD DEPENDENTS is June 11 from 6-7:30 pm at the RI National Guard Warwick Armory, 541 Airport Road, Warwick RI 02886. Registration for ALL OTHERS is June 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, same location.

After the first Registration Night, any remaining camper slots will be announced by Thursday June 13 through email and Facebook (www.facebook.com/RINGCYP) Remaining slots will be open to all branches and components and to any RING families who could not attend Night 1. All camp spots will be given on a first come, first served basis. Those within the deployment cycle as noted on forms will be given precedence. TO REGISTER: you must come to your ASSIGNED Registration Night with all required paperwork completed and your registration fee.

Registration Form and Fees will be released at the end of May. This website will also post the forms when made available!

For each camper you will need: health insurance card, up-to-date immunization forms, and either a copy of a recent physical or have your doctor complete the Physician’s form in the Registration Packet. Red Cross Disaster & Leadership Academy 2013

If your teen or young adult is ready for a challenge this summer, the Red Cross Youth Disaster & Leadership Academy debuts this year Camp Fogarty in East Greenwich!!

This Academy will run Monday July 8 through Friday July 12 and meets daily from 8 am to 4:30 pm each day. The Academy will be an intensive week-long series of workshops, fitness and teambuilding that tie into the mission of the American Red Cross Youth Corps and the American Red Cross worldwide!

The Academy is designed to develop skills in disaster preparedness and response, wilderness survival, first aid, leadership, teamwork, and physical fitness. Youth will explore field-related careers through guest speakers, workshops and more. Youth who complete the Academy will be ready to work as volunteers in the Red Cross’ key services : Disaster Services, International Services, Services to the Armed Forces, Biomedical Services and Health& Safety Services. This Academy promises to move youth beyond their comfort zones and bring personal growth and responsibility to youth as members of the Red Cross team.

Jason Campagnone is the Director of Volunteer and Youth Resources for the CT/RI Red Cross and will be the Director of this Academy.
