Bachelor of Science: Biotechnology Track
The Biotechnology Manufacturing Option is concerned with the research, development, regulation and manufacturing of therapeutic drugs and vaccines. Graduates are prepared for careers in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and biomedical research industries. The biotechnology manufacturing option requires many of the courses required in the MLS option. In addition, there are two biotechnology courses (9 credits) and an internship course at a biotechnology/life sciences facility (12 credits).
Bachelor of Science: Medical Laboratory Track
The Medical Laboratory Science major is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The program includes courses in clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, hematology, immunology, immunohematology and molecular pathology, and prepares students for national certification examinations and state licensure. Jobs for graduates are extensive and opportunities are found in clinical practice, laboratory supervision and management, regulatory agencies, sales and technical representation for scientific equipment companies, research, and education.
