Animal Science Technology, B.S.

Bachelor of Science: Animal Management Track

The Animal Management option is designed to prepare students to manage the daily operations of an animal facility. This option requires fewer credits in the basic sciences but more in the supporting electives. Graduates with experience in animal management find employment in zoos, aquariums, animal shelters, ASPCA, pet food companies, federal, state, and local opportunities dealing with animal control.

Bachelor of Science: Animal Science Track

The Animal Science option includes coursework in animal nutrition, anatomy and physiology, behavior, and disease in both large and small animals. Students seek employment in animal/biotechnology facilities or continue their studies at the graduate level. Graduates find employment in zoos, aquariums, pharmaceutical companies, pet food companies, federal, state, and local opportunities dealing with disease control and public health, and in teaching and research or as veterinary technicians.

Bachelor of Science: Pre-Veterinary Track

The Pre-veterinary Program is designed to prepare students for admission to veterinary schools.  Admission to veterinary school is highly competitive. Those who are not accepted for veterinary training will be well prepared to pursue graduate programs in animal physiology and health.  Veterinarians work in private, in federal, state, and local assignments dealing with disease control and public health, and in teaching and research. Food and drug companies hire veterinarians for product development and testing.
