All students at URI are capable of academic success. When students struggle, it’s usually because something is keeping them from doing their best. Sometimes it’s how they manage their workload and time; other times it’s how well their study activities work for what they are trying to learn. Almost every student, regardless of GPA, will tell you that they would like to be able to do better. Academic Coaching can help.
Just as world class athletes benefit from having coaches observe and advise them, students of all levels of ability benefit from having a coach do the same for them. Our Academic Coaches meet 1-1 with any student in any course or major, working with them to explore how they study, manage time, deal with test anxiety, take tests – anything, really, that contributes to academic success. They begin by looking at what the student is already doing and experiencing, and offer ways to improve performance. They will continue to meet with the student for as many weeks as the student needs.
Not sure what your need is? Come set up an appointment and we can help you figure things out!
Course support offered
Students in any course/major can benefit from academic coaching; you might choose to focus on one specific class during your coaching sessions (and we can sometimes match you with a coach with a similar academic background), but usually students tend to work on their approach to all courses.
