Academic coaching is a 1-1 program in which students can meet with an academic coach once per week for 30 minutes each session, and receive tailored coaching to improve overall academic success. While all students who arrive at URI are capable of success, very few students arrive already knowing how to study in a college learning environment. At some point almost every student realizes that they need to work differently somehow.
Academic coaching is a tutoring process that can help you do better in nearly any course. Our coaches are a team of professional educators highly trained graduate and undergraduate students who can help you improve your ability to study more effectively, manage your time and work, reduce academic anxiety and procrastination, and become a better test taker.

Course support offered
Students in any course/major can benefit from academic coaching; you might choose to focus on one specific class during your coaching sessions (and we can sometimes match you with a coach with a similar academic background), but usually students tend to work on their approach to all courses.
