An Old-Fashioned Farm Experience

Ages 5-8

$240/week

9am-3:30pm*

The 19th century Woodvale Farm has a country barn, classroom, outbuildings, 11 acres of rocky pastures, two lush gardens, a pond, a historic cemetery and hiking trails. This original farm is home to all kinds of animals** like ducks, chickens, turkeys, rabbits and cows. The children will meet some of the animals up close, feeling their fur or feathers, listening to their sounds, and observing their behavior with a focus on safe, humane interactions. There’s so much for you to experience at Woodvale Farm.  Help feed the animals, learn about humane animal care, plant seeds, collect eggs, pick some of the best fresh fruits and vegetables you’ve ever tasted, make ice cream the old-fashioned way and help make recipes from the very fruits and vegetables that you just harvested from the garden. There will also be hiking, songs, games, crafts, folklore and swimming.  Since Farm Day Campers only swim in the shallow end of the roped off swim area, swim checks are not conducted.

On Friday there is a Farm Carnival following a theme, which features games like ring-toss, pig calling, freeze dancing and face painting.  On Friday at 3:15 PM there is a short Family Program of skits and songs followed by a farm tour guided by your child.  This is their opportunity to show you around the farm to meet their favorite animals and see the gardens.  There is also a Farm Stand set up on Friday so that you can take home some of the garden’s bounty that the kids helped harvest.

** Farm animals are only used to demonstrate agriculture to young campers.
