Student Teams Take 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in National Business Competitions

As a College, we share in celebrating the success of our student achievements — perhaps as much any supporting parent! Thus, a big congratulations is due to several student groups and their advisors for their top place finishes during the fall semester.


Third Place: Chinese Business Plan

A group of global business management majors URI-BYU Chinese Competitionwon third place during an intensive Business Language Case Competition at Brigham Young University in November. At the event, teams from about 21 national universities were asked to present their solutions to a strategic problem faced by a local company. May sounds easy, but the work had to be done, presented and discussed in Mandarin Chinese. The students are shown here with professors I-Ling Hsu and Jerry Xia.  Read more >


Second Place: National Association of Black Accountants

NABAURI’s National Black Accountants Association (NABA) took second place in the Student Case Competition at the 32nd Annual Minority Business Conference, hosted by NABA.  Held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, the event challenges students to work in teams to analyze and solve complex business cases and make effective presentations. First Place: Acura Social Media Campaign

As featured in our last issue, a team of students created a marketing firm, Vital Innovative Promotions (“V.I.P.”), and a social media campaign that took top place in the national American Honda Motor Group’s Acura ILX competition. After presenting their team’s campaign and results in November, they became one of three finalists who were invited to present their campaign to a team of judges at Honda headquarters in California. The winning vote was unanimous for the quality of their creative approach, work, and results.  Read more >
