Two-Week Advance Notice
To process paperwork and acquire the necessary approvals, we require a minimum of two weeks advance notice. Any request not providing two weeks notice will only be considered if staff time permits. Large events may require more than two weeks notice. Members are always welcome to join existing open recreation without a reservation.
Special Event Availability
Groups may hold special events during select evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. All of the facilities are typically occupied during the week with departmental programs, Intercollegiate practices; Kinesiology classes; open recreation, intramural sports and club sport practices.
- Services for URI custodians; electricians and lands and grounds fees will be charged depending on the nature of the event request.
- Personnel fees will be charged for special events that are held outside of the facility’s hours of operation in order to monitor the event and maintain facility operations.
- Depending on the type of equipment and set-up requirements, an additional fee may be charged.
- Aquatic events may also be assessed with additional fees.

In addition, a copy of facility rules and regulations will be provided for your review upon receipt of a signed confirmation acknowledging your reservation.
Varsity Athletics practices and home contests, Campus Recreation programs, and academic classes have priority for all scheduling in the Mackal-Tootell Complex and outdoor fields. Outdoor events are subject to approval through URI Lands & Grounds.

From the North
Take I-95 South to Exit 9 (Route 4 South) in RHODE ISLAND, follow Route 4 to Route 1 South. Stay on Route 1 until the intersection of Route 138 West. Route 138 West will bring you to the University.
From the South
Take I-95 North to Exit 3A (Route 138 East). Continue east on Route 138 to the University.
Follow Route 138 West over the Newport and Jamestown bridges to Route 1. Take Route 1 South to Route 138 West. Follow Route 138 West to the University.
Mackal-Keaney-Tootell Parking Passes
One (1) parking pass hangtag per family will be issued at no cost to all non-student Members and Aquatic Class participants to display in your vehicle at all times when visiting the complex.
URI Parking & Information Services will enforce the universities policy requiring ALL vehicles on campus to display a parking pass in the correct parking area. The designated parking lot for non-student patrons of the Mackal-Keaney-Tootell Complex is the Visitor lot (shaded in pink) adjacent to the Boss Ice Arena and Beck Baseball Field. If your hangtag is lost or stolen please fill out a Police Report with the URI Campus Police. Once this report is filed, you must bring a copy of the report to the Rec Service Center where a new hangtag will be issued.
