Fitness & Wellness is dedicated to offering programs for the students of URI, but we are also committed to offering programs that are suited for the Rec Pass, Fitwell and Platinum members. We value your participation in our program and want to continue to grow our program offerings to aid in the well-being of the URI staff and promote a healthy campus. FitWell Program Calendar: January – March
Various special events, including competitions, themed classes, incentive programs and fitness challenges are delivered at different times of the year to keep students and members engaged and motivated. Specialty/Custom classes and programs are available upon request. FIT WELLNESS INTO YOUR DAY: Wednesdays, January 28th – February 25th
This 5 week online Wellness program through Sakai will be available on 5 helpful Fitness and Wellness topics like: SMART Goal Setting, healthy shopping, successful tips on workouts and more. Just sign up at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and Employee ID#. This is a easy tool to use, because you can access the information at anytime at a computer, so you can read through the tips or complete the worksheets at your convenience. This is your way of setting yourself up for success in 2015.
ASK A TRAINER: We all have questions about how to change up our routine, nutrition or how to use a machine in the gym, so there will be Personal Trainers available on the floor at Mackal and Fascitelli for members to ask questions or to assist in an exercise routine. RHODY REC CHALLEGE: January 26th – March 6th, Fascitelli Fitness & Wellness Center and the Mackal Fitness Center
This drop in program is based on the many dimensions of fitness. Targeting the Core Musculature, the Cardiorespitory system, Power, Endurance, Strength and over all fitness. This is a great way to be competitive, try something new and be rewarded for your efforts!
CAMP CANCUN: January 26th – February 4th, Tootell Group Exercise Studio
Get your body ready for fun in the sun! This 4 week beach body workout with your personal training team will get you results!
THIRSTY THURSDAYS: Join us every other Thursday at Fascitelli from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Wellness Resource Center for a FREE Smoothie and some Wellness tips and topics.
January 29th: Make Health a Habit - Learn how to integrate small changes into your lifestyle for a big impact on your health.
February 12th: What Fuels You? Eat, Exercise, Class, Sleep, Repeat. What keeps you going?
February 26th: The Body Project – Extreme diets, over-exercising, waxing, manicures, teeth-whitening, piercings, tattoos, & more.
March 12th: My Plate vs. Your Plate – How do your portions match up to those on the USDA’s MyPlate? Learn how to build your plate with portion control for optimal energy & weight loss/maintenance.
Upon request a workshop can be designed to meet your group’s interest in health, fitness or wellness. Topic may include: how to eat healthy, how to start an exercise program, how to fit exercise into your busy life, the seven dimensions of wellness, how do I know I’m at risk and much more. URI Employee Program Icon is a symbol that will be used to identify: Fitness & Wellness programs, group classes, events, or specials that would be of interest to individuals who work or are affiliated with the University work force.
The icon identifies programs based on:
- Program Content
- Topic of Interest
- Class level is appropriate for fitness level
- The time of the event, class or program
- Length of the class, event or program
- Members can attend free of charge
