Fitness & Wellness is dedicated to offering programs for the students of URI, but we are also committed to offering programs that are suited for the Rec Pass, Fitwell and Platinum members. We value your participation in our program and want to continue to grow our program offerings to aid in the well-being of the URI staff and promote a healthy campus. FitWell Program Calendar: September – December
Various special events, including competitions, themed classes, incentive programs and fitness challenges are delivered at different times of the year to keep students and members engaged and motivated. Specialty/Custom classes and programs are available upon request. FREE BODY COMPOSITION WEEK: September 14th – 18th, Fascitelli Fitness Center and Mackal Field House. Come drop in at posted times, no appointment is needed to find out your lean body mass and body fat percentages. Assessments takes 5 minutes, please see flyer for drop in times and requirements.

RHODY REC RUNNING: Beginning September 25th for the fall semester, come join us every Friday at 5:00 p.m. for a group run leaving from the Mackal Field House.
The groups primary purpose and vision is to allow runners of all endurance levels, paces, distances and running experience to run together in a non-competitive atmosphere and to get to know each other through a variety of social activities. Registration is not required but the group leaves Mackal promptly at 5:00 p.m. A great way to start training for Campus Rec’s Rhody Halloween 5K.
THIRSTY THURSDAYS: Join us every other Thursday at Fascitelli from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Wellness Resource Center for a FREE Smoothie and some Wellness tips and topics.
LADIES LIFT: October 2nd; 9th; 16th; 23rd; 30th, Mackal Weight Room, 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Weights are just not for boys, however the weight room will be open for ladies only. Certified Personal Trainers will be available to guide and teach you basic lifts with proper form without the onlookers on men.
RHODY HALLOWEEN 5K: Saturday, October 31st. Campus Rec first 5K race that starts on the Quad at 10:00 a.m. Come dressed in a Halloween costume. T-shirts and prizes will be given. $15 for URI Students, $20 for Members and $25 for Community. Registration on line or in person at Fascitelli Welcome Center or Mackal Rec Service Center. Prior to October 1st, all participants receive the URI Student rate $15.
Upon request a workshop can be designed to meet your group’s interest in health, fitness or wellness. Topic may include: how to eat healthy, how to start an exercise program, how to fit exercise into your busy life, the seven dimensions of wellness, how do I know I’m at risk and much more. URI Employee Program Icon is a symbol that will be used to identify: Fitness & Wellness programs, group classes, events, or specials that would be of interest to individuals who work or are affiliated with the University work force.
The icon identifies programs based on:
- Program Content
- Topic of Interest
- Class level is appropriate for fitness level
- The time of the event, class or program
- Length of the class, event or program
- Members can attend free of charge
