Fitness & Wellness is dedicated to offering programs for the students of URI, but we are also committed to offering programs that are suited for the Rec Pass, Fitwell and Platinum members. We value your participation in our program and want to continue to grow our program offerings to aid in the well-being of the URI staff and promote a healthy campus. FitWell Program Calendar: February – May
Various special events, including competitions, themed classes, incentive programs and fitness challenges are delivered at different times of the year to keep students and members engaged and motivated. Specialty/Custom classes and programs are available upon request. Please contact Leticia Orozco at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on how to schedule, develop and offer a program for your group.
PERSONAL TRAINING Special Offer: January 4th – February 26th. Buy 4 sessions of personal training packages and get 1 session free or buy 10 sessions and get 2 free. This is your year to achieve and succeed.
REFRAIN FROM THE HOLIDAY GAIN: Most Americans gain 5-7 pounds from Thanksgiving to New Years Day. This year make a preemptive strike on the holiday weight gain. Your goal is to maintain your body weight within one pound of your initial weigh in. Make sure you weigh in with a fitness center attendant. *All weights and emails are kept confidential.
Stop by Mackal or Anna Fascitelli Fitness and Wellness center to compete in this competition! Initial Weigh In: November 16th – 25th with the final Weigh In: January 25th – 31st. Those who pass the weigh in will receive a prize!
RHODY REC RUNNING: Beginning September 25th for the fall semester, come join us every Friday at 5:00 p.m. for a group run leaving from the Mackal Field House.
The groups primary purpose and vision is to allow runners of all endurance levels, paces, distances and running experience to run together in a non-competitive atmosphere and to get to know each other through a variety of social activities. Registration is not required but the group leaves Mackal promptly at 5:00 p.m. A great way to start training for Campus Rec’s Rhody Halloween 5K.
THIRSTY THURSDAYS: January 28th – April 28th, Anna Fascitelli Wellness Resource Center, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Thirsty Thursdays are a great way to celebrate you in this new year. The focus of this program is to provide free smoothies that are using natural ingredient and highlighting important topics such as how to set healthy habits this year, body image, having a safe spring break and more.

ALL IN EXPRESSO CHALLENGE: January – December 2016, Don’t miss out in joining the URI expresso team and ride us into the championship. The most miles completed on a team wins a trophy and t-shirts. All you have to do is sign-up for an account on expresso.com and join the URI team. If you are already a user, just select the ALL IN Challenge and join the URI team.
LADIES LIFT: In February stop in with all your questions from our Certified trainers on the floor to show you that weights are just not for boys.
HIT THE CLUB: Wednesday, February 10th, Mackal Cardio Center. Heads up! You’ll need to be “on the list” before shaking your booty at this hot club. See a Fitness Attendant to guarantee your spot. Two sessions are available where our fitness pros will be on the floor to guide you through a 50 minute workout with a DJ spinning and light show.
URI 30 DAY CHALLENGE: Ready for a Challenge this winter or just some new workout moves? Check out our #uri30daychallenge @uricampusrec on Instagram. Challenge begins February 15th.
GROUP EXERCISE MENTOR PROGRAM: If you like taking classes, why not train to TEACH them? Free Group Ex Mentorship program is accepting applications NOW for our Spring session.
SPOTLIGHT GROUP EX CLASSES: Save the Dates – Group Ex will spotlight a class that is something new and exciting at the Anna Fascitelli Fitness & Wellness Center.

INSIDE OUT WEEK: February 22nd – 26th, Anna Fascitelli Fitness & Wellness Center. A week-long exploration of you! Come join the Fitness and Wellness program by celebrating “you” from the inside out. Society focuses on appearances and physical stereotypes; this week is about turning societal norms inside out. Learn how to be comfortable in your own skin. When you participate you will be given an Inside Out Pass, if you attend 5 events or more, you will receive a t-shirt. First come, first served, so don’t miss out on all the great challenges and informational stations.
Upon request a workshop can be designed to meet your group’s interest in health, fitness or wellness. Topic may include: how to eat healthy, how to start an exercise program, how to fit exercise into your busy life, the seven dimensions of wellness, how do I know I’m at risk and much more.
