Programs, Events & Workshops

Fitness & Wellness is dedicated to offering programs for the students of URI, but we are also committed to offering programs that are suited for tFaculty & Staff and Community members with the Rec Pass, Fitwell and Platinum memberships.  We value your participation in our program and want to continue to grow our offerings to aid in the well-being of the URI community and promote a healthy campus.  We encourage you visit our additional web links including personal training, group exercise, special programs and events to view the comprehensive list of programs we have to offer.



Rhody Rec Running

Join us on Mondays @ 3pm and Fridays @ 5pm for Rhody Rec Running.
Free program!

Whether you are a runner or just trying to be more active, Rhody Rec Running will help you achieve your goals. We have runners of all abilities, staff and trainers to run with you. Participate and receive incentives. 4x earns a RI shirt!

Meet at the Mackal Rec Service Center 10 minutes prior to the run.
5k route is around campus, changes weekly.

Wear comfortable clothing and sneakers
Optional items- water, small towel, headphones/music.

ACTIVE for Your Life

Whether you like enjoy the pool, stretching or personal training sessions, we have programs specifically designed for you.
BABY BOOMERS: Personal Training programs working one on one, designed to fit your individual needs. Member and non member rates available. Times limited to Trainer availability.
GROUP CLASSES: JOIN us Tuesdays and Thursdays for classes that will help you increase work productivity, Gain strength and flexibility, improve overall health, decrease tension and stress.
Yoga: Mondays 2-2:45pm
Dynamic Stretch and Balance: Tuesdays 7-7:45am, Wednesdays 2-2:45pm
Strength for Life: Thursdays 7-7:45am
All classes held in the in Tootell Studio

FREE for Members, Class pass available for non-members
$30/session Mon/Wed class
$30/session Tues/Thurs class


Upon request a workshop can be designed to meet your group’s interest in health, fitness or wellness.  Topic may include: how to eat healthy, how to start an exercise program, how to fit exercise into your busy life, the seven dimensions of wellness, how do I know I’m at risk and much more.
