I have a MS from Southern Connecticut State University in Human Performance, a BS from the University of Connecticut in Exercise Science and a minor in Sports Nutrition. I’m also nationally certified as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, American Red Cross Instructor, ACE certified stretch specialist, and Nautilus training certified. I have the unique privilege to be a part of the plan, design, construction and delivery of our new fitness and wellness center a 31,000 sq ft facility, scheduled to open Fall 2013. My personal philosophy is “If there is a will there is a way, so don’t stop trying”.
It is my second year as Graduate Assistant for Fitness and Wellness Programs. I graduated from Rowan University in 2011 with a B.A. in Health & Exercise Science: Health Promotion/Fitness Management and am going for an M.S. in Kinesiology. I am an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer as well as certified/trained in AFAA Primary Group Exercise, Kickboxing, Yoga, Pilates, and Zumba. Dance has been a major part of my life for eighteen years, and it has definitely helped me develop as an instructor. I look forward to spreading my passion for fitness, wellness and dance to URI. My goal as an instructor is to be sure that everyone leaves my classes smiling and inspired to achieve their goals inside and outside of the Rec!

Hi Guys, I am a senior in the marine biology program at URI. I became certified to teach spin last summer after becoming addicted to the classes here. Being an instructor is a hobby for me and I take time to create each routine with its own unique music. No genre is off-limits for me, you’ll find hip-hop, rock, country, and classical music in my routines, as long as the songs can pump you up, I’ll add them in. Besides spin class I assist with the scuba diving program at URI, and plan to get my dive master certification this fall as well as my instructor certification this spring. After graduation in May I will be marrying my fiance Cameron at our hometown in Lancaster, PA, and will then travel the world with him while he is in the air force. I look forward to seeing you in my class!
Hey! I’m a senior nursing major and have just recently become AFAA certified. I’m really excited to start teaching group exercise. Come spin with me and get ready to drip sweat!

I strive to teach both restorative and challenging classes that can help achieve balance and stress relief. I have always believed that living a healthy lifestyle is the key to success and my own yoga practice has given me the tools to balance my everyday life with school and keeping active.

Hey! My name is Miranda, but most people call me Mandie. I’m a freshman pharmacy major and am assisting various classes this semester at the fitness center. I’ve taught multiple classes back home at my local gym ranging from cardio dance, freestyle interval training and swim classes. I plan to become certified to teach and personal train over the coming months. I am also a passionate runner but love to cross train and explore all types of fitness. I’ve personally learned how many benefits exercise can have not only on your body, but on your mind as well and look forward to helping everyone achieve their own personal healthy lifestyle.
I started teaching group fitness classes when I was in grad school and have not stopped because I love it so much! I have taught in the Boston area, in a small gym in NH, and in the Netherlands (in Dutch).
