Biography

Professor Christine Zozula graduated summa cum laude from Fordham College Lincoln Center with degrees in sociology and anthropology. She earned her doctorate in sociology at the University of Connecticut, specializing in law, crime, culture and gender.

Professor Zozula studies the practical and cultural processes of punishment. She has published on a good prisoner reentry program gone wrong at The Prison Journal, the relationship between human rights and domestic violence in Societies Without Borders, and lawyers behaving badly at Law and Social Inquiry (forthcoming 2014). She is currently writing about how community courts, which exclusively handle low-level offenses, help shape broader understandings of cities, criminals, and deservingness.
