World Language Education (B.A.)

Overview

URI’s World Language Education program allows you to further develop your language skills and broaden your awareness of other cultures. Offering tracks in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, and Spanish, the program presents you with unique opportunities to impact your community and work toward making the U.S. a more multicultural nation.

Today there is a shortage of language teachers—in Rhode Island and nationally—and the employability of our graduates has never been higher (almost 100% of our graduates find a teaching position after graduation).

Upon successful completion of this program and passing the R.I. Department of Education required certification exams, graduates will be eligible for full certification to teach world languages in all grades (pre-K-12) in Rhode Island public schools (and in many more states, through the reciprocity agreements).
