URI CERT Training is an invaluable opportunity to learn skills that could save your life and the lives of your loved ones. This training will give you the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, build your resume.
URI CERT was organized in 2011, due in part to a FEMA grant that the URI Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security received. The purpose of URI CERT is to provide the URI community with a trained network of first responders who would be available to respond to any emergencies the campus area may face.
CERT organizes instructors to train community members how to respond to emergencies that may require more manpower and resources than the professional first responders can immediately provide. CERT training covers a range of topics, including medical first aid, search and rescue, fire suppression, psychological first aid, and disaster operations. In the event of a large-scale emergency, the CERT team is activated and the members will respond and provide assistance to the other responding agencies.
