Major/Minor/Certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies
Beginning in summer 2012, the Gender and Sexuality Center forged an initiative to create an academic certificate, minor, and/or major in LGBTQ or Queer Studies. One of our undergraduate staff positions will help coordinate the activities of a steering committee of students, faculty, and staff for the next several years. This committee will design a plan for program implementation, including suggested courses, timeline, faculty, and structure recommendations. For more information, please contact Annie Russell.
Academic Coaching Program
The Academic Coaching Program is designed to combine formal and informal supports and services through the Gender and Sexuality Center to create a student-centered academic network. It is built around a model of an existing academic coaching program with the assistance of the Academic Enhancement Center. The program has also received interest from University College and the College of Human Sciences and Services in partnering with the ACP.
The focus is academic planning and goal setting currently, with the desire to expand the coaching program to include more personalized advising and tutoring for interdisciplinary subjects in the coming years. Currently, we are planning to offer personal and group coaching sessions, informational workshops (based on student interest), FAQ’s with University College, and study hours in our library during midterms and finals.
