Spotlight on Phi Sigma Sigma:
The Gamma Zeta Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma at the University of Rhode Island welcomes you to our page. The sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma are involved on campus in a verity of ways. Each sisters bring different qualities and attribute to this chapter and our campus. Phi Sigma Sigma was founded in 1913 in New York City, We are internationally recognized as a progressive, successful women’s philanthropic and social organization who strive to empower all of our members. Our mission is to inspire the personal development of each sister and perpetuate the advancement of womanhood.

The Phi Sigma Sigma sisterhood is based on our 6 virtues of Sincerity, Integrity, Friendship, Faith, Love, and Strength. The sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma are very diverse, each person brings a different quality to our chapter. We each are involved in at least 2 other activities such as URI 101 mentors, Tour Guides, Jumpstart, Student Senate, Resident Advisors, Multicultural Student Organizations, and much more.

As well as our separate activities, we all work together to support our national philanthropy, The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation which is partnered with the Kids in Need Foundation.  Our philanthropy is centered around giving children, the right materials and tools to succeed in their future educational endeavors. We support our philanthropy through various efforts like school supply drives, and by hosting our annual Phi Sig Carnival where the proceeds go to our foundation.

Although we pride ourselves on involvement, philanthropy, and academics we are heavily involved in our community. With weekly Sisterhood events, Philanthropy Week, and Greek Week, supporting other Greek Organization’s Philanthropy there is never a dull moment. Speaking of Greek Week and Philanthropy Week, our sisterhood won during the 2016 Philanthropy Week raising $1, 785 for our local “Greeks Give Back” Scholarship and we also won the 2017 Greek Week raising a grand total of $8,334 for Habitat for Humanity of South County.

Through Phi Sigma Sigma, we are able to build lifelong friendships. Our saying goes “Once a Phi Sigma Sigma, always a Phi Sigma Sigma”.

We have truly built a new home away from home and hope you get to experience it for yourself.
