  • URI’s first transgender professor speaks on Midwestern trans movement - Assistant Professor of Gender and Women’s Studies, Joy Ellison, highlighted underrepresented transgender movements in Midwestern history in a lecture titled “Un-forgetting Trans Feminism: Lessons in Survival and Resistance from Midwestern Trans Movements” as a part of the Dana Shugar Colloquium lecture series.
  • Student Spotlight: Jae DosSantos - Jae DosSantos is a junior from East Providence, Rhode Island, double majoring in Political Science and Gender and Women’s Studies. They have been working on an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Workshop, they hope to turn this into a campaign, that focuses on queer relationships due to the lack of resources and information.
  • Student Spotlight: Elliot/El Hartshorn - Elliot/El Hartshorn (they/them) is a junior from around Boston, MA, double majoring in Marine Biology and Gender and Women’s Studies. They have been working on many projects, including a mutual aid prisoner PenPal project, and has spoken at the RI Statehouse about issues affecting transgender people today.
