Due to the major snowstorm forecast, which is predicted to hit Rhode Island this evening and all day Tuesday, Health Services will be closing on Monday, January 26th at 6:30 p.m. and remain closed on Tuesday, January 27th, 2015.  The possibly exists that the Health Center may have a delayed opening on Wednesday morning, January 28th, 2015 also.. Please call the Health Center at 401-874-2246 prior to leaving for your appointment to confirm that the Center is open for services.  We will also update our website at Health.URI.edu.

During the storm, URI EMS will be in service for on-campus emergencies.  Should you experience an emergency on campus, please dial 401-874-2121 or if off -campus emergency dial 911.

Health Services staff want you to remain safe during this weather event.  Please remain indoors and if you must go out, please dress accordingly and monitor for signs of frostbite.  Information can be found HERE.

The Spring 2015 Insurance waiver is now open and can be accessed HERE

The last day we will accept the insurance waiver is January 30th, 2015

 

Immunizations

R.I. State law requires proof of immunity for:

  • Rubella (German Measles): One (1) shot required; applies to all persons regardless of age. (MMR vaccine preferred)
  • Mumps: One (1) shot required; applies to all persons regardless of age. (MMR vaccine preferred)
  • Rubeola (Measles): Two (2) shots required; applies to any person born after 1956. (MMR vaccine preferred)
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria: Booster dose of Td or Tdap within the last ten (10) years.
  • Hepatitis B: Three (3) shots required; applies to all persons regardless of age.
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox): One (1) shot required if under age 13 at time of vaccination or two (2) shots required if 13 or older at time of vaccination or documented evidence of history of disease by a medical provider.

If records cannot be obtained, the immunization is offered for the cost of the serum to any registered student who has paid the Health Services fee. Meningitis vaccination is recommended for those living in residence halls.
