Welcome to the College of Human Science and Services (HSS) at the University of Rhode Island! I invite you to navigate our website to view the opportunities that HSS offers our current and future undergraduate and graduate students.
You will find that HSS, the second largest college at URI, lives up to its vibrant motto of “Improving Lives Across the Lifespan” as our outstanding faculty and programs attract excellent students, who bring strong commitments to their academic and future professions in health, education, and human science. In every program, student success is our highest priority.
HSS is home to six departments: Communicative Disorders; Human Development and Family Studies; Kinesiology; Physical Therapy; the School of Education; and Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and Design. In addition, we have a program in Gerontology as well as URI’s first and only undergraduate, interdisciplinary program, Health Studies, that positions students for much needed careers in health and health care.
You will notice that there is no specific section on diversity. The reason? Our College embraces diversity and inclusivity in everything we do. Every one of our current and future students will have a safe space to learn in our College.
The faculty in HSS understand the importance of a college education and the need for our students to be critical thinkers, fluent in technology, and democratic-minded citizens. Faculty also provide internships that help our students become employable upon graduation. They help our students learn to solve universal problems in health, education, and human science.
HSS is a wonderful college! After enjoying a virtual visit, please feel free to contact me or any of my administrative staff if you would like an in-person visit.
