Dr. Lori Ciccomascolo has served as the University of Rhode Island’s interim dean of the College of Human Science and Services since 2012 and the dean of the College of Continuing Education since 2014. As dean, she has collaborated with faculty and senior administration to lead the reorganization of health and education-related programs at the University of Rhode Island toward the creation of a new College of Health Sciences and potential College of Education and Professional Studies that would combine the School of Education and College of Continuing Education. Prior to her administrative appointments, Dr. Ciccomascolo taught as a tenure track faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology. Her research addresses areas of health and education including women and girls in sport and physical activity, health and physical education pedagogy, and best practices in leadership and mentoring. In 2013 she received the Woman of the Year award by the URI Association of Professional and Academic Women for her advocacy in the advancement and equal treatment of women on campus. She was equally as honored to receive the 2015 URI Multicultural Administrative Diversity Award given to an administrator for cultivating and sustaining a campus that embraces and respects diversity. Dr. Ciccomascolo holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching from Boston University and earned both her Master’s degree in Exercise Science and Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communication from Southern Connecticut State University.
