Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Training

The primary purpose of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) Training Program is to expand the research opportunities available to students at the primarily undergraduate institutions (PUI) in Rhode Island by offering summer research experiences in PUI faculty laboratories. SURF research mentors are required to provide research experiences to three undergraduate students in their laboratories during the 10-week RI-INBRE SURF Program. Both the mentor and the students are required to participate in the program activities and to present their research accomplishments in the form of poster at the Annual RI SURF Conference. Progressive advancement toward a publishable manuscript with SURF students as co-authors is also expected.
