Research

Katrin Jomaa’s research is interdisciplinary between the fields of religion and political science, hence she teaches in two departments (Political Science and Philosophy). Her research interests include Islamic thought and philosophy, Qur’anic exegesis, as well as classical and modern political philosophy. She focuses on the relationship between religion and politics in Muslim majority countries.

Her research method employs analysis of Islamic primary sources to explore key theoretical concepts which could be utilized in informing political practice in the Muslim world. Her latest work explores how multi-religious communities are regarded and incorporated into the political sphere based on Islamic ethics, thereby discussing social justice within an Islamic legal/ethical order.
