The ITS New Employee Mentoring Program focuses on improving the transition of new ITS employees. The program seeks to improve each new employees work experience as an ITS employee from the time of hiring until one month after employment begins in order to help him/her quickly become a productive member of the ITS team.
The New Employee Mentoring Program includes both orientation and mentoring components. The mentoring portion is designed to provide a source of information and guidance for new employees. In addition, the program seeks to increase the new employee’s sense of their value within the organization, make him/her feel more welcome and comfortable, and provide a positive initial impression of the organization.
The mentor will be assigned by the Director of the department to which the new employee is assigned. The mentor will be provided with a checklist to assist the new employee, mentor and supervisor with the orientation and acclimation process. The New Employee Mentoring experience is about six weeks in length – from the time of hiring until one month after employment begins.
