A Message from the CIO

As the 2015 academic year draws to a close, ITS has been involved in numerous technology initiatives. The most visible one has been the implementation of Google Apps for Education in January. While all incoming email was redirected to Google at that time, ITS staff, along with departmental and college IT support staff, continue to assist with the migration of old email. ITS staff are also working on related projects noted below in order to meet the deadline of retiring the Zimbra and Exchange servers before the end of the 2015 calendar year.

To keep pace with the tremendous growth of wireless use by the University community, the Provost has funded the acquisition of additional wireless access ports and switches.

Finally, all ITS staff members are in the process of completing a three-hour workshop on customer service in an effort to better serve the University community.

As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions on how information technology can be improved. I can be reached at garry@uri.edu or x4-2410.
