Virtual Private Network (VPN) now available
ITS now offers a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service to faculty and staff to facilitate secure remote access to campus-based network resources. The VPN uses the public Internet to securely connect a remote computer, such as your home desktop or a laptop, to the URI network. The underlying principle is to make the remote computer seem as if it were physically connected to the campus network.
In addition, the VPN service utilizes two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication provides additional security by prompting for two authentication components at login: your normal password and a unique code. Upon signing up for the VPN service, you will receive a Security Token that will provide you with your unique code. This service is for faculty and staff who have a business need to access secure information from off campus. For more information and to make a request please visit, http://security.uri.edu/vpn/
