Voice Connections Moved to Cox Communications
ITS recently completed a move from Verizon to Cox Communications at all four campuses for the University’s primary voice connections. The complex project was the result of more than 12 months of planning with multiple vendors and was executed with virtually no impact to campus operations.
This move provided for new and more resilient connections as well as new on-site hardware to support the University’s emergency phone system. In addition to improved resiliency and disaster recovery capabilities for the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service platform, the University can expect to see improved VoIP functionality in the coming months with no additional phone charges. ITS staff should be recognized for their persistence and hard work involved in this critical but seamless switch-over.
