About

International Women’s Day

Since the early 1900s, more and more countries have celebrated International Women’s Day to promote gender equality around the world. Over the past century, women have made great strides for gender equality; but, there is still a long way to go. Today, thousands of events across the globe connect women everywhere in honor of International Women’s day. These events range from political rallies, business conferences, government activities, theatrical performances, networking events and more.

We are proud to host the upcoming Second Annual International Women’s Day Conference, Film, and Panel Discussion at the University of Rhode Island with distinguished, international, visiting writer Dacia Maraini!

This event is free and open to the public. Each woman will receive a yellow mimosa flower at the door and light refreshments will be provided.
