Biography
Dr. Judy de Oliveira teaches Portuguese in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of Rhode. She is also an instructor of Spanish and Portuguese at Salve Regina University, an instructor of Linguistics at Rhode Island College and teaches Medical Portuguese for graduate medical students at the Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
Research
Her research interests include sociolinguistics, dialectology, language contact, second language acquisition and applied linguistics. She works with native and heritage speakers of Spanish and Portuguese and studies on various linguistic phenomena in an effort to document the linguistic varieties of Portuguese and Spanish spoken in New England.
