Biography
Shawna Iula has instructed beginner to intermediate German courses at URI since 2014. She completed her MA in German at the University of Wisconsin, focusing on pedagogy and German literature, and her PhD at URI where she focused on education and motivation in foreign language learning.
Once a struggling student of foreign languages herself, she understands that learning a new language can be scary and is not something that comes easy to everyone. She hopes you will give German a try and see how much fun you can have learning this new skill and getting to know the culture of the German-speaking countries!
