New Student Programs (NSP) works to support the transition of new students and families to the University of Rhode Island. Your path to success at URI reaches beyond the classroom, and it begins with new student orientation and your first year. Whether you are joining us from high school or as a transfer student, we are committed to helping you transition to the URI community. All new students enroll in URI 101, a first year seminar course designed to help with your personal and academic transition. We offer living and learning communities for many of our academic majors, and all new students participate in a common read program.
Our staff is comprised of a director, a coordinator, and graduate and undergraduate students who plan and deliver events and support programs for new members of the URI community.
