URI 101 Mentors

Welcome Mentors! This website is designed to support your role as a mentor and includes course resources organized by topic area.

The Role of the Mentor: You will hold an influential role in helping your class of 20 to 30 first year students in their transition to college. You will create an effective and comfortable partnership with your instructor and become a resourceful team for your students and each other. Working with your instructor, you will create lessons with the following objectives in mind:

  • Developing essential academic skills
  • Improving personal responsibility
  • Encouraging involvement
  • Utilizing campus resources
  • Academic and career planning
  • Importance of civic engagement
