The 18th Annual International Nonviolence Summer Institute at URI ended on Friday, June 16 with an emotional certification ceremony. Participants from 16 countries and 17 US states came together for this “Training of Trainers” experience to learn how to teach an Introductory Workshop in Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation.
The guest speaker was David Jehnsen from The Institute for Human Rights & Responsibilities, Inc., speaking on the topic of past, present, and future of Kingian Nonviolence Training. Dr. Nasser Zawia, Dean of the URI Graduate School, also spoke on the challenges of remaining hopeful in the face of international violence and the refugee crisis. Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr. concluded the ceremony with final remarks.
