Peace Award Recipient: Sidney Pimental

The Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies at the University of Rhode Island (URI) congratulates Sidney Pimental as the first student to win our Peace Award. Sidney won this award for her student leadership and nonviolent work, bringing awareness to societal issues, mindfulness, and inner peace to the URI campus and neighboring communities.

Sidney is studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She has served as the Public Relations Intern volunteering for the Center this semester. Sidney has been the Advertising President for the URI Student Entertainment Committee since Spring 2019 and has used this outlet to bring peace and love to the URI campus. She will be graduating in spring 2022.

Sidney has always been passionate about spreading heartfelt messages and practices of peace and kindness. She wanted to be constructive and serve her best in making the world a more calm, joyous, and peaceful home. She took this mission even more seriously as the COVID19 pandemic exacerbated fear, worries, and other mental health issues worldwide.
