Over 150 students and faculty joined together to form a human peace sign in the middle of the Quad and had an aerial photograph taken from a URI bucket truck.
Hundreds of students came by the event to make a peace flag, create 15-foot long peace bubbles, hula hoop for peace, and jam with the Ukulele Peace Orchestra. Strike a Chord music club kept the music rocking all day.
At 7PM a Candlelight Vigil honored those who have experienced violence and those who have given their lives for the cause of nonviolence. Members of the audience read peace prayers from various faiths and cultures.
Hundreds of students enjoyed the beautiful day of peace on the Quad. Many expressed an interest in joining the Center’s student group, the Peace Coalition, which meets Thursdays at 7PM in the Multicultural Center. If interested, contact the Center email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
