LEVEL I KINGIAN NONVIOLENCE TRAINING OF TRAINERS CERTIFICATION (Without Housing): June 5-16

Total cost: $875 USD (Includes $100 registration fee plus $775 training fee, NO housing).

WEEK ONE. The initial week of Level I training consists of introductory training in Kingian nonviolence conflict reconciliation course, and introduces key concepts and important background information about nonviolence, including core values, conflict analysis, nonviolent historical movements, dynamics of social change, and study of several of the most important essays written by Dr. King. Participants learn through a combination of instructional and interactive small group activities and training exercises. Morning and afternoon sessions are supplemented by evening discussions and dialogue opportunities.

WEEK TWO. The second week of training prepares participants to become certified trainers and workshop facilitators qualified to deliver a 16 hour Introductory Nonviolence Workshop. This portion of the training involves guided practice presentations, supervised facilitation rehearsals, and demonstrations of simulated workshop sessions.

Final certification as a Level I nonviolence trainer requires mastery of basic Kingian nonviolence concepts and successful demonstration of workshop facilitation skills, by the conclusion of the Institute.

LEVEL II ADVANCED NONVIOLENCE LEADERSHIP TRAINING (Without Housing)

June 12-16 (Level I Certification Required)
Total training cost: $650 USD (includes $100 registration fee plus $550 training fee, NO housing).
Registration requires a payment of a $100 USD non-refundable registration fee.

LEVEL II ADVANCED NONVIOLENCE LEADERSHIP TRAINING
The course offers an in-depth study of Kingian nonviolence methodology, including a review of the Level I curriculum, leadership characteristics, historical and organizational analysis, social action research, and strategies for community organizing and mobilization. Emphasis is on leadership development and continued involvement in nonviolence education and training efforts. The training is presented using a seminar and small group discussion format, as well as individual study and team activities. Level II certification as a nonviolence leader and trainer expects demonstration of advanced knowledge and understanding of nonviolence as represented through the study and analysis of nonviolent leaders, organizations and/or movements.

21-Day Nonviolence Training and Cultural Education Program for International Participants Only (With Housing – see above Housing for details)

Our special Extended 21-Day Nonviolence Training and Cultural Education Program is available at our International Nonviolence Summer Institute. This program is designed especially for international participants, who would like to spend the first two weeks from June 4-17 on the URI campus for Kingian Nonviolence Level I or Level II training, followed by one additional week of cultural education experiences. Interested international participants first need to complete their online registration with registration fee duly paid. The final determination of eligibility for a J-1 Exchange Visitor visa for such a 21-day training and cultural education program package, will be evaluated in collaboration with the URI Office of International Students and Scholars, who will then process the necessary application materials.
