Undergraduate Academic Advising

Undergraduate Academic Advising Resources

  • Curriculum Sheets: Curriculum sheets are very useful documents, providing you with the roadmap for your major. They should be used and updated regularly as you complete coursework.
  • General Education Requirements: All College of Nursing students must meet the University’s General Education requirements. The General Education Handbooks for selecting approved courses are available at the University College website.
  • Graduation: The Intent to Graduate procedure is outlined on the College of Nursing website.  All students must apply for graduation the semester prior to completion of their degree.
  • The Academic Calendar outlines important dates and deadlines to remember.
  • The Academic Enhancement Center offers tutoring and academic coaching for student struggling with course content. Additionally, the Writing Center offers writing assistance.
  • Enrollment Services can assist students with questions about financial aid, billing, and records.

Advising for Pre-Licensure Program

Advising in University College for Academic Success

  • All first year students and some transfer students are assigned a nursing advisor at University College for Academic Success (UCAS) in Roosevelt Hall. Advising appointments with your UCAS advisor are made through e-Campus. UCAS advisor, Meghan Warhola (mwarhola@uri.edu or 401.874.5609) is available by appointment or during walk in hours, found on the University for Academic Success College website.

Advising in the College of Nursing

  • For advising related to general education courses, transfer credits, transcripts, course registration and student records, please visit the Office of Student Affairs on the first floor of White Hall (nurse@uri.edu). Pathways and Honors students are still encouraged to see their faculty advisors (Prof. Mary Cloud, Prof. Carolyn Hames).

  • Unsure of your adviser? Please contact gradnursing@uri.edu or call 401-874-5301 for additional academic advising assistance.

  • Program of Study: The purpose of the Program of Study is to ensure that students, at an early stage in their graduate study, organize coherent, individualized plans for their course work and research activities. Programs of Study (POS) forms can be found on the Graduate School Forms webpage. Please note that there are different forms for Certificate, Master’s, and Doctoral programs.
  • Graduation: Nomination for Graduation forms can be found on the Graduate School Forms webpage. All students must apply for graduation at the start of the semester in which they intent to graduate. Please note that there are different forms for Certificate, Master’s, and Doctoral programs.
