This Week at OLLI- November 14

Week of November 13

REMINDER: You MUST have a parking pass to park in the OLLI lot. URI Parking Services has been policing the lot and giving out $50 tickets. Parking passes expire annually on July 31. If you aren’t sure if you have a pass, please call the office and we’ll be happy to check for you. One of the many OLLI benefits is free parking for members.

OLLI MEMBERSHIP WELCOME- Thursday, November 16, 12:00PM-1:00PM

New and current members are invited to join us to learn about all of the benefits of being an OLLI member. We’ll review our current programs, and our special interest groups, all while exploring and becoming more familiar with our OLLI website and registration software. Plenty of time for Q & A.  Coffee & refreshments too! Join us!

CYBER SENIORS WINDING DOWN– Our students will be finishing up their time with us in the next few weeks. If you need help with your phone, laptop or other device, try to stop by before Thanksgiving. We will have new students in the winter semester, but most likely not until late January.

THE ARAB-ISRAELI CONFLICT UP UNTIL THE 1990S

3 Sessions with Jim Buxton on Dec 13, 14, 15  1:00PM-2:30PM

This 3-session course will provide a concise review of the necessary history of the “Arab Israeli” conflict up until the peace treaties in the 1990s. In doing so, we will continuously attempt to acknowledge many viewpoints regarding controversial topics: Zionism, the Balfour Declaration, the UN Partition Plan, the causes and results of the 1967 War, etc. We will not spend a lot of time, in this course, analyzing the current conflict as this would be putting the cart before the horse. We will, however, allow some time at the end of each of the 3 sessions for participants to orate to some extent. A part 2, dealing with events from 1995 on, will be offered some time after the New Year.

*OLLI requires a minimum enrollment of 10 students per class. If you are interested in registering for any of these classes, please don’t wait! Call today (401-874-4197) or log on to your OLLI account.
