Program

Requirements

  • Pre-requisite:  ‘EEC 345G, Sustainable Development, Trade and the Environment’ or ‘MAF 350/NRS 300, Introduction to Global Issues in Sustainable Development’.
  • Take three courses that align with your specific sector.
  • Accumulate a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer or work experience in the same sector.
  • Take at least one or two courses at the intermediate level of a foreign language. Foreign language requirements vary by the linguistic region you choose or your native speaking ability.
  • Take three intercultural competence courses. The one required core course is MAF350/NRS300, Introduction to Global Issues in Sustainable Development, (which also fills a Gen Ed requirement!). You can choose the other two competence courses from the recommended list in the Peace Corps Student Guide.
  • Professional resume and interview preparation are required prior to graduation. URI’s Center for Career and Experiential Education will provide this for you.
  • Leadership experience must be demonstrated. You will choose a project or experience and document this with your Peace Corps Prep advisor.
  • Students must graduate in good academic standing in order to receive their Certificate of Completion from the Peace Corps.


 

Exit Checklist

The Exit Checklist is a document that lists your Peace Corps Prep certification requirements. If you apply to Peace Corps, you will scan and attach this signed form to your application with the name “PC Prep Checklist.”
