Kaitlyn Krajanowski ’18 wants to help. It’s partly the reason she was chosen by faculty to receive a Gregory and Claire Wilcox Family Scholarship in Pharmacy this year; the top student is known for posting online study guides and offering extra support to her Pharm.D. classmates.

It’s also the reason the former Cumberland High School valedictorian and repeated Dean’s list student was drawn to the field of retail pharmacy. “It’s a humbling feeling when people come to you with questions and trust you to help them,” she says.

Krajanowski has spent the past few years balancing classes with a part-time job, but the Wilcox scholarship means more to her than financial aid. “Receiving the scholarship really reinforced for me who I am, what my values are, and how I want to carry that forward,” she says. “It excites me that our roles as pharmacists are expanding, and that we can have a direct impact on issues like prescription drug abuse and the heroin epidemic. It’s an honor to be part of that.”
