  • In August of 2012 The Joint Commission released a sentinel event alert which highlighted the problem of opioid related over sedation and respiratory depression among inpatient populations. 
  • Identified risk factors that have been shown to be related to these adverse reactions
  • The objective of this study was to determine the influence of these various risk factors in patients who are on opioid medications.
