Support the College

Make a gift

Private philanthropy has always been essential to the advancement of pharmaceutical research and education—and this is true today for the College of Pharmacy. We are grateful to all of our alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and corporate and foundation partners who enhance the mission of our College through their generosity. The College’s continuing success will be defined by its ability to support our students, attract and retain top faculty, and compete with peer institutions in an increasingly competitive environment. To ensure this bright future, the College seeks gifts with the following priorities:

Respond to opportunities and challenges

When you make an unrestricted gift to the College of Pharmacy through URI’s Annual Fund, your donation provides flexible funds to respond to the College’s immediate opportunities and challenges. Last year The Fund for URI: Pharmacy raised almost $75,000.  The list below indicates how these funds were used.

How the College uses the Annual Fund for URI gifts:

  • 30% to Pharm.D. and B.S.P.S. student scholarships and aid
  • 24% to graduate student scholarships, assistantships, and fellowships
  • 23% to student professional meetings and travel assistance
  • 18% to college-wide seminars, meetings, and activities
  • 4% to miscellaneous, including inter-professional opportunities

Ensure innovation and an exceptional faculty

When you give to our new primary endowment — The College of Pharmacy Innovation Fund — you are supporting perpetual excellence and the critical components of the College’s Strategic Plan.

Income from the endowment is targeted to attract top faculty and students with a passion to innovate; to fund projects that enhance the College’s position as a national and international leader; to maintain our state-of-the-art facilities; to provide resources enabling faculty to engage in critical research, education, and practice.

Provide need-based scholarships

We take seriously our mission to strengthen and diversify the pharmacy profession, and we celebrate those donors who have joined our efforts by endowing a scholarship through the URI Foundation. You may create an endowed scholarship with a gift of $50,000, payable over a 5-year pledge period. Gifts to support need-based scholarships ensure access to a URI Pharmacy education for all qualified students regardless of ability to pay.

Advance special initiatives

We recognize there are many ways to support and engage with the College of Pharmacy. We welcome working with you to find the exact area of support that matches your interests. Examples include:
