Questions about the Interview

When are applications reviewed? Is an interview required?
The formal review of applications begins approximately 4-6 weeks after the fall application deadline. This period of time allows time for PTCAS to verify applications, and for the admissions committee to review all candidates. In December, our most highly qualified applicants will be invited to attend an interview in early January at Independence Square. Interviews are by invitation only.

What should I expect at the interview?
Interviews are an opportunity for applicants and program faculty to learn about each other. Those invited for a formal campus interview will take part in a department tour, overview of the program, and learn about specific components of the program, i.e., clinical education. Candidates will meet the DPT faculty as well as current students, and have a chance to express their interest in URI and the PT profession. During the interview, applicants may be rated on their oral communication skills, professional behaviors and attitudes, ability to interact in a group, knowledge of the profession, ability to solve problems, and motivation to pursue a career in physical therapy.
