URI Police TIPS Information Line
401-874- TIPS (8477)
This information line is a totally discreet link for anonymous tips in reporting crime. It’s easy to be put into a situation where you don’t think you should be, and don’t know where to turn for assistance. The TIPS line allow students, faculty and staff a way of letting the police know what’s going on, without getting directly involved. There is also an option to speak to a specific officer at your request. Your confidentiality is first priority to us. The TIPS line is a recorded message that will prompt a caller when to provide information. The TIPS line is not the emergency phone line and should not be used as that. An example for use of this line is if you had information on a rash of vehicles being damaged and recalled seeing a suspicious person, vehicle or activity in that area while you were walking to your dorm. A few days go by and you read or hear about it and recall to yourself seeing someone or something that was not right. This would be a great time to call 401-874-TIPS (8477). If it is a crime in progress, please do not wait. Call the URI POLICE immediately at 401-874-2121.
