You Can Make A Difference
URI’s Providence Campus, through its many centers, programs, and through the Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education, has been making a difference in the lives of Rhode Islanders for many years. From partnerships with cities and towns to address the issues of urban life to educating students enabling them to live a better life, we have changed the landscape of Rhode Island.
Together we can continue to make a difference for Rhode Islanders through our giving program.
Gifts may be established as endowments or as a one-time donation. Endowments may be named for, in memory of, or in honor of an individual or recognize and honor a corporation or a business. The level of giving depends on the nature and scope of the donor’s interest. Specific giving opportunities include:
- Academic Skills Center
Nontraditional, at-risk, and learning disabled students are served by the Academic Skills Center, which provides assessment, referral, study skills and strategies workshops, tutorial assistance, and other forms of academic support.
- Dean’s Fund For Excellence
Gifts to this fund provide discretionary funds to the Dean for special needs, such as conference travel or staff training and may cover emergency expenditures as well.
- Endowed Chair For Urban Programs
An endowment for a renowned faculty chair will help to support and retain an expert in urban studies who would serve to further strengthen existing programs and attract outstanding students, distinguished lecturers and eminent scholars.
A donation or an establishment of an endowment would provide support for a series of individual lectures or a visiting lecturer of national prominence.
- Marketing and Internships
Contributions support ASFCCE’s Marketing Department in continuing to publicize URI’s Providence Campus as the regional leader in adult education. Establishment of an endowment would help to underwrite an internship position—a positive development for both a student and the department.
- Student Scholarships
Provides students with tuition and/or book support based on academic achievement and/or financial need.
- Urban Program Fund
Funding supports urban initiatives, which include research into Urban Affairs, efforts to influence the development of community policies and programs, and quarterly forums focused on current urban issues.
- Urban Arts & Culture
Funding supports our urban arts and culture program. A professional in the arts coordinates special programs for our students, the children in our Child Development Center, and the larger community.
Why give to CCE?
“At the Alan Shawn Feinstein CCE, students are provided with quality education and skills that they can take into the marketplace. Through our land grant designation, we develop Urban Programs to better the quality of life for our Urban Citizens and to provide them with additional educational opportunities.”
John H. McCray Jr., PhD
Vice Provost for Urban Programs
“Returning to school after raising my family was a major adjustment. The family atmosphere at ASFCCE and the warmth of the people there inspired me to complete my degree. I made a donation to ASFCCE to help others finish their education like I did.”
Anna DeMetrakas ’95, Hon.
