The purpose of the space utilization system is to identify and record University spaces, assign usable spaces to a department and a function, determine room descriptions, and to measure and record the net square footage of University spaces.
Space surveys are distributed to University departments by the Sponsored and Cost Accounting Department in compliance with the Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200. During the survey process, floor plans are provided by this office. Individual departments are responsible for the accuracy of the space activity data it submits. Accurate survey information is critical as it is directly tied into the University’s negotiated Indirect Cost Recovery rate. Any room use or organizational changes made to space, after the survey has been completed, should be e-mailed to the Coordinator so that records are kept updated.
