Bucktown

A New Yorker by background, Adam Mir has fallen for his new home of Providence. Having worked in the restaurant industry for years, he always dreamed of opening his own neighborhood joint, and made that dream a reality on the West Side with Chef Ashley Faulkner.

Adam was introduced to the RISBDC through Hope & Main, the lauded East Bay food incubator that has a long and productive partnership with us. Adam quickly bonded with his business counselor, Josh Daly, over their shared love of another great foodie city that Josh called home for a decade: New Orleans.

Many meetings later, after months of bouncing around ideas, researching, dreaming, and checking items off to-do lists with Josh’s support, Adam realized his dream: Bucktown. Named after a working class New Orleans neighborhood that started as fishing camps along Lake Pontchartrain, Bucktown opened its doors in June 2016. With a craveable menu of authentic southern favorites and a laid-back atmosphere, Bucktown is a welcome addition to the neighborhood – as appealing to the nearby public service workers as it is to the nearby hipsters.

Adam is grateful to the RISBDC for what he describes as its “unlimited support and guidance on marketing, financials, and other elements of starting a restaurant.”

Offering a full lunch and dinner menu, Bucktown has already become a fixture in the Providence restaurant scene. The eatery earned rave reviews from Providence Journal Food Critic Gail Ciampa. Say hi to Adam when you stop in, and let him know the RISBDC sent you!
