Catalog Description: Instruction in contemporary techniques used in a program of physical education for elementary school children. Types of activities found in basic programs and in planned progressions for various age groups.

Course Goals & Outcomes

By the end of the semester students will be able to:

  1. Understand elementary physical education content and disciplinary concepts related to the development of a physically educated person
  2. Understand how elementary-age children learn and provide opportunities that support their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development
  3. Understand how individuals differ in their approaches to learning and provide instruction adapted to these differences
  4. Plan and implement instructional strategies to develop physically educated individuals, based on state and national standards
