Minor in Social Justice and Civic Responsibilities

Overview

Social justice means valuing human life, equal access to social capital, personal dignity, and the implementation of human rights for all, while civic responsibilities include staying informed about issues affecting your community and participating in them. In these unprecedented times, the minor in Social Justice and Civic Responsibilities (SJCR) is an innovative and timely educational opportunity that can help you explore and make sense of current world issues, and gain knowledge and skills that are applicable to any career.

The interdisciplinary minor requires a total of 18 credits across three broad topic areas: peoples, social institutions and contexts, and methods and skills. You’ll choose from 68 courses offered through 22 departments/programs across four different colleges, and will also have several opportunities to engage in experiential learning. Having so many choices means you can either sample an array of perspectives on social justice and civic engagement, or create your own pathway through the minor with your dream job in mind.
