Youth into Health Careers Summer 2016 Academy

Youth into Health Careers is a 4-day residency program on URI’s Kingston campus aimed at encouraging high school youth, ages 15-16 from underrepresented communities of color, to become health care professionals.

WHEN?   2-6 August 2016

WHERE?   URI KINGSTON CAMPUS

WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES?

  • Introduce underrepresented students of color to careers in health care, including Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Public Health
  • Provide hands-on experiences in health care delivery such as taking vital signs, CPR, and simulation of health and disease entities
  • Meet current and former faculty

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Program Costs are being covered in full by the generous support of URI (Student Affairs); Brown University (Medical School); and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

How Do I Apply?

Applications must be received by 4pm on 5 June 2016

Space is limited to 15 students
