Vice President’s Message

Welcome Rams to the Division of Student Affairs website.

We want you to know that YOU are welcome here!

The staff in the Division of Student Affairs are happy that you decided to join the University of Rhode Island and we want to assist you on your successful journey to the completion of your college degree. Student Affairs impacts every URI student and we encourage you to get involved in campus life by joining our over 180 student organizations, by joining one of our Greek organizations , and by getting involved through our club  and intramural sports. We encourage you to learn more about our leadership program. We say this knowing that national research and surveys tell us that student success is directly linked to student involvement – we strongly encourage you to get involved!

The staff in the Division of Student Affairs is committed to your academic success and we provide a variety of services to assist you on this journey. Our Health Services is one of only a small group of college units to have Joint Commission Accreditation. Our Counseling Center staff and Dean of Students  staff are here to assist you as you navigate your university.

Our Division is home to the Talent Development scholars program, started in 1968 as a special admissions program for Rhode Island students of color and students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We also house and feed the Ram Family. We invite you to enjoy our national award winning dining and live in the variety of residence halls we have available across campus.

The Division of Student Affairs is assessment conscious in all that we do and we THINK BIG – whether you are an undergraduate or a doctoral student, full-time or part-time, we are here for YOU! Our staff is full of scholar-practitioners in the field of student affairs who are dedicated to supporting your success.

Kathy Collins, VP for Student Affairs
