ACADEMIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MINUTES 10, 03, 2012
MEETING START TIME: 05:30pm
ATTENDANCE: Zawatsky, Dionne, Knoph
COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:
- Exam Rights/Academic complaints flyer
- Still working on these
- Contacted Liaisons
- Ethan sent out an e-mail to the liaisons w/ information about how and what to discuss with their respective deans
- Drop Period Survey
- Decided best way to poll student body is a survey monkey
- Last year Caisse did a survey monkey, but only held a booth to spread its word
- We need to get the survey monkey out to more students- thousands of students
- Caisse’s survey monkey had alternative options – we don’t want to pose options, we just want to know whether or not the students agree with the new policy
- If we get a large negative response- we can use this to back up arguments and take them to the Faculty Senate
- Kristen met with College of Pharmacy dean- he believes 3 weeks is a generous drop period
- Field research- go to local employers, asking them how they would view a “W” on a transcript
- Ethan’s proposal- not going from 9 week period to 3 week period, argue the point of the “W”, fight for a 6 week policy
- Research drop period/second grade option at other similar institutions
