“Many universities lack a process that molds holistic students. Many students leave college as one-dimensional people who know little beyond what they learned in the classroom,” said Omoaregba, who will graduate from URI May 17.

He has been accepted to the University of San Diego’s higher education leadership master’s program and plans on pursuing his doctorate soon after. If he gets a hoped-for assistantship at San Diego, he’ll be on his way to California, but if he doesn’t he is considering a stint with City Year, a national non-profit whose 17- to 24-year-old volunteers work as mentors to children in inner-city schools.
